John always used to tell us stories of when he was growing up, and living in Tombstone. I remember one where he told us he went down to Aqua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico and preceded to get into trouble ( he never told us what he did ) anyway when his father found out he put him in jail , and his mother would go down with her umbrella and hit grandpa Hood over the head and say " You let my baby out of jail ". Also after my husband and I were married we kept hearing these stories and one day Bill left the house and was gone for awhile and then He called . John answered the phone and there was this discussion about having his check book and not to tell Carol what was happening. I have to insert here that as John was paralyzed on his left side and when he got angry his left arm would start to raise up, and the angrier he became the higher it would rise. On with the story ------ Bill told him that he was in jail and that they had confiscated the car and to come down and bail him out. ( I was also 81/2 months pregnant ) . So down town we go and get to the Douglas Police Station. We go in and John goes up to the desk sergeant and says " Do you have a Bill Loughborough in here " the ploiceman says " not that I know of and I haven't seen Bill in a long time. But I'll ask the patrolman Selchow." Well, Shelchow hadn't seen Bill either so about that time John realized he had been had and as he swung around to leave he said " when you do get that SOB in here , you put him in the farthest cell where you have to feed him beans thru a pea shooter " Well, John's arm was so high it was about shoulder level. This happened in 1958 and as of two years before his death he would still not talk about it. Bill didn't get to see any of this as He was out at the Bisbee-Douglas Airport.
